Frequently Asked Questions

What is CBT?

thumbnail_Accredited Logo Web.jpg

CBT is based on the idea that how we think about situations can affect the way we feel and behave. Our interpretations of situations are influenced by our past experiences, particularly our early experiences. I will work with you to identify how your experiences have shaped your own thoughts, feelings and behaviours before moving on to explore how you can change unhelpful thinking and behavioural patterns, to improve how you feel.

How many sessions do you offer and how long does each session last?

How many sessions you have will depend on your goals for therapy and the nature of your individual difficulties. In general, the minimum amount of sessions offered will be 6. Generally, 12-20 sessions of CBT is helpful. Each session lasts 50 minutes and appointments are usually weekly.

How much does each session cost?

Each 50 minute session costs £60. As my private practice is newly open, I am unable to offer sliding scale/discounted prices at this time, but I hope to be able to do this in the future.

How will I know if CBT is right for me?

After you make initial contact, we will arrange for a free 20 minute conversation so that I can find out a bit more about your situation and whether it is something I can help you with. This will also give us a sense of whether we could work well together. We will review how therapy is going every 3-6 sessions.

Where will therapy take place?

I believe that face to face therapy is the most beneficial for building the therapeutic relationship, therefore I offer sessions in Dorking Town centre, Surrey. The full address will be provided to you once we arrange our first meeting. If you live further away and would prefer video sessions, I can offer these via a video platform called 'Sessions'
