Welcome, I'm Charlotte, here is a bit about me and my private therapy practice.

I have enjoyed working as a full-time Cognitive Behaviour Therapist (CBT Therapist) and Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (Delivering Guided Self Help based CBT) in the NHS for the last six years. My work in the NHS consists of providing talking therapy to people experiencing common mental health difficulties and I have now decided to take my experience of working with these difficulties into my own practice, alongside continuing to work in the NHS part-time.

I have always loved to study Psychology, and when I started to learn more about CBT, I noticed how it's principles started to help me. From this point, I knew straight away that I wanted to work towards becoming a CBT Therapist myself, so that I could share it with as many people as possible. Since starting this work,  I have found helping individuals to gain a better understanding of their own thinking and behavioural patterns extremely rewarding, and found that in doing so, people become empowered to implement CBT strategies and improve their wellbeing.

The more experience I have gained through my own experiences and work with clients, the more I have noticed the importance of viewing our mental health in a holistic way by considering the impact that things like our nutrition, living environment and physical activity can have on our mental wellbeing. This is something that I want to gain further knowledge about, so that I can bring it into my therapeutic work with clients. I also have a special interest in working with clients who are adjusting to becoming a new parent, and clients struggling with Low Self-Esteem. I hope to run group wellbeing courses for new parents in the future. To see the full list of things I may be able to help you with, see the FAQ section.

In my spare time, I love to spend time watching a good series, going to the theatre or chilling out with my toy cockapoo (I believe pets make the best therapists) as well as dabbling in a bit of interior design in my own home.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is CBT?

thumbnail_Accredited Logo Web.jpg

CBT is based on the idea that how we think about situations can affect the way we feel and behave. Our interpretations of situations are influenced by our past experiences, particularly our early experiences. I will work with you to identify how your experiences have shaped your own thoughts, feelings and behaviours before moving on to explore how you can change unhelpful thinking and behavioural patterns, to improve how you feel.

How many sessions do you offer and how long does each session last?

How many sessions you have will depend on your goals for therapy and the nature of your individual difficulties. In general, the minimum amount of sessions offered will be 6. Generally, 12-20 sessions of CBT is helpful. Each session lasts 50 minutes and appointments are usually weekly.

How much does each session cost?

Each 50 minute session costs £60. As my private practice is newly open, I am unable to offer sliding scale/discounted prices at this time, but I hope to be able to do this in the future.

How will I know if CBT is right for me?

After you make initial contact, we will arrange for a free 20 minute conversation so that I can find out a bit more about your situation and whether it is something I can help you with. This will also give us a sense of whether we could work well together. We will review how therapy is going every 3-6 sessions.

Where will therapy take place?

I believe that face to face therapy is the most beneficial for building the therapeutic relationship, therefore I offer sessions in Dorking Town centre, Surrey. The full address will be provided to you once we arrange our first meeting. If you live further away and would prefer video sessions, I can offer these via a video platform called 'Sessions'

What conditions do you provide therapy for?

I am trained to work with all of the following:

  • Depression and low mood

  • Social Anxiety Disorder

  • Generalised Anxiety Disorder

  • Panic Disorder

  • Specific phobias

  • Body Dysmorphic Disorder

  • Low Self-Esteem

  • Adjustment to life events such as becoming a new parent, endings of relationships or loss

  • Stress

  • PTSD

Please note, you do not need to have an official diagnosis to have therapy with me, you may simply suspect that you are experiencing one of the above.
